About Our Group

Linn County Emergency Medicine was established in 1994 as a completely physician-owned and operated professional corporation. We are a democratically structured group dedicated to serving sick and injured patients in Eastern Iowa. The group has since expanded to include Johnson County Emergency Medicine and to a free-standing ED in Hiawatha, IA to provide care across the eastern Iowa corridor.

Our group is dedicated to providing high-quality patient care in a timely fashion. We employ a fantastic group of PAs and NPs with a continual dedication to education and improvement.

The group is led by a physician president and all leadership roles are held by physician members of the group. As a partner-based group, all decisions regarding the group are made by democratic vote. We have a strong focus on work-life balance with all shifts being 8.5 hours in length and shift preference is given equally among all employees, regardless of partnership status or seniority within the group. A dedicated group of nocturnists keeps our night shift burden low, and a night shift pay differential is in place.

• 24 hours of physician coverage with additional APP coverage during peak census hours
• Epic EMR and Dragon dictation system
• 24 hour CT and ultrasound coverage
• All consulting services and MRI available at the main Mercy Medical Center campus
